European Conference

On May 26, 2023, the European Conference on Non-Olympic Sports was held at the Catholic University of Lublin in Lublin (Poland). It was a scientific conference attended not only by scientists, but also by practitioners. The conference was the culmination of the European Union co-financed project of a cooperation platform for non-Olympic sports www.noscooperation.eu.

Ks. dr hab. Słwomir Fundowicz (KUL) – chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Conference presented the situation of non-Olympic sports in Poland in the legal aspect of their functioning, Tomasz Dauerman, Honorary President of the Polish Committee of Non-Olympic Sports, spoke about the origins of PKSN.

 

In addition, the conference agenda included speeches by:

Dr. hab. Bogusław Uliasz, prof. UP (UP im. KEN in Krakow) – „Support for the organization of sports events by the Ministry of Sport – experience from previous years”,

Dr. Jakub Kosowski (UMCS; UM Lublin) – „Formal and legal possibilities of supporting activities in non-Olympic sports by local government units”,

 

and guests from abroad, representatives of organizations participating in the project together with the Polish Committee of Non-Olympic Sports:

– Bilal Caglayan (Turkish Sport for All Federation) – „Non-Olympic Sports in Turkey” and

– Ronalds Rezais (Latvian Sport Federations Council) – „Non-Olympic sports in Latvia”.

As part of the cooperation platform for non-Olympic sports www.noscooperation.eu project, a special manual was created, the purpose of which is to help in the creation of sports organizations associating non-Olympic sports in individual countries. Manaul was created on the basis of surveys conducted among sports organizations from Latvia, Turkey and Poland.
